In 1987, Alf was a pretty popular dude. He was practically everywhere, so it's not much of a surprise that Alf was a popular choice for Halloween that year. The costume shop featured in the segment shows an older lady hand making the costumes for rental. That's pretty cool. Unfortunately it cost them around $100 to make the costume to be rented out for $50. They're banking on him being popular again in 1988. Which he was. Though I strongly recall several store bought Alf costumes in my neighborhood. Including a fabulous full body furry costume a kid down the street wore. His parents bought it at Toys R Us. Fingers crossed that nice old lady didn't loose out too much to a Collegeville outfit from Walgreen's.
